score analysis

Bizarre (aka Profumo) is a terrible movie. I could start and end this review with that sentence and no one would blame me. But there's a bit more that I'd like to add.

This film really doesn't belong on the Giallo Score. Giallo, by the loosest definition, means "Mystery" and there's nothing mysterious about the film. It scores higher than the lowest scoring film on the site only because I decided to award "Motivation" points to Florence who commits the only murder in the entire film. Otherwise, the film is basically an episode of Dynasty with soft-core porn, bad 80's decor, awful 80's fashion and terrible music.

The film is included here simply because all of the films we cover on the Giallo Ciao! Ciao! podcast deserve the Giallo Score treatment before they're discussed on the show. Frankly, I'm not even sure how this film ended up connected to the genre. A Google search for "Bizarre Profumo" turns up countless links to the film for viewing and/or download (with some being legitimate porn web sites), but almost no mention within the horror/exploitation blogsphere.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this film unless your criteria for the "good" part of "so bad it's good" is very lax or unless you're really into 80's nostalgia and get excited by cyan, magenta and ladies shoulder pads.

For those whose curiosity will ultimately get the better of them, you may find yourself asking, "Holy shit! Can this film get any dumber?" Well, let me spoil it for you. It can and it does! The only redeeming quality is Florence Guérin's absolutely flawless body which is on display for a majority of the film's running time. It's also a great film if you're a fan of the motorcycle guy from Torso who DOESN'T look like David Copperfield.

And really, who isn't?
